What is the best way to update /etc/hosts on Zenoss 6? We have to add new entries every time we have a new device to monitor. Our current method is this:

1. Update /etc/hosts from main shell prompt
2. Reboot server (so it is propagated to the containers)

Is there a command that we can run so #2 is eliminated? I tried restarting Zenoss (without rebooting the server), but that didn't seem to work.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Larry,

You will need to restart dnsmasq on each Zenoss host you modified the/etc/hosts file on. This should end up being all collector hosts.

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for the quick response. I apologize for the delay, but I didn't see a notification. Anyway, I tested it with "kill -HUP {pid}", and it worked!

Hopefully your answer can help others too.

Thanks!
