Adding a host via VirtualBox

Hi,

I´m having a problem with adding a host to my Zenoss Control Center version 1.6.2.

I created an internal network in VirtualBox, I added my host device into it and I´m able to ping between devices, but when I try to add this host device to my monitored hosts, an error output like this comes out: Bad Request: dial tcp4 192.168.1.5:4979: getsockopt: no route to host.

This is my half-year school project and I´d be very happy if I somehow managed to make it run properly.

Thank you!

Hi Kristian,
Can I just clarify your requirement here?  Are you trying to add another box to share the monitoring with your existing Zenoss?  Or are you trying to add a box (what I might call a "target device") to monitor?

If the first one, then I'm not sure I can help you here - you need someone who knows more than me about Zenoss 6.
If the second scenario, then, instead of adding the device as a host in Control Centre, then you need to bring up the Zenoss GUI (not the Control Center GUI) and add the device in to Zenoss under the appropriate device class.

Cheers,
Jane

PS. Good on youfor  tackling this as a school project!
