Hello.

We have two offices and I was wondering if it was possible to setup a Raspberry Pi or other small device as a collector in one of the offices and have that polled/deliver events & data to the main zenoss installation.

zabbix seems to have something simular

Any ideas of how to collect data from the remote office would be appreciated

Zabbix is C => app can be small static linked and powerful binary. Zenoss is python => it needs a lot of codes/memory/cpu. I can imagine RPI (1GB RAM version) as Zenoss 4 collector, but probably you will need to invest time to tweak and minimize memory consumption. Forget about Zenoss 5 - it's dockerized = you need custom Zenoss 5 docker images for arm (RPI) architecture, which are not available.

Recommendation: use proper x86_64 machine + Zenoss 4 with remote colletor in your office.

Devops Monitoring Expert advice: Dockerize/automate/monitor all the things.

DevOps stack: Docker / Kubernetes / Mesos / Zabbix / Zenoss / Grafana / Puppet / Ansible / Vagrant / Terraform / Elasticsearch
