I've been trying to install Zenoss 5 using CentOS 7. And the manual setup is nearly impossible to get it running, a very complex set of instructions, that seems to be missing steps.

I've been using the Auto-Deploy script, and that gets a lot closer, except that the process zentrap is failing to start. When rolling over the Red Exclamation, it says that it isn't communicating with zenhub-answering, yet all the other processes that rely on zenhub-answering are working just fine.

Any advise on how to get around these issues. I currently use Zenoss 4.2.5, but am looking at upgrading to Zenoss 5 before 4.2.5 hits EOL.

Don't worry, Zentrap is (known) issue of Zenoss (Core) 5.0.5. I'm also not able to solve it ;-)

So if this is a known issue, is there an auto-deploy to a previous version that does work

Or, is there an expected fix coming soon

No, autodeploy is for deploying of current available Zenoss version. It won't support versions, because then it will be code of one million of version conditions.

Check/open issue https://jira.zenoss.com and you will known, when it will be fixed hopefully.
