Hi,
I am new to Zenoss.. Install Zenoss 4 on my system and added several devices to it.
I am trying to use my gmail ID to send alerts from Zenoss. I have:
SMTP Host = smtp.gmail.com
SMTP Port (usually 25) = 465
SMTP Username = xxxx123@gmail.com
SMTP Password = xxxxxxxxx
When I go to users, click on Test email button,
[Errno 101] Network is unreachable
Postfix installed on the system.
Can someone suggest how to resolve this issue
Thanks

Do you want to:
- use Gmail as SMTP server
or
- use your @gmail.com email as sender email only
Could you show your zenactiond.log file pls (www.pastebin.com)

I don't know. It's not reaching your zenactiond daemon -> problem will be another daemon/setting ([Errno 101] Network is unreachable).

Hi,
I changed the smtp settings and added the info about our Exchange server. I am testing another monitoring tool for avaluation purposes, added the same smtp settings and started getting alert emails, however in Zenoss when i try to send a test email. I get an error "No Suitable Authentication Method Found" . Checked the zenactiond.log and there is no info about any email being sent out or any error.
Can you help

Errno 101 in that case means it's not able to connect to the gmail server. tcpdump/wireshark may be useful to determine why.

Parora: Google is wanting fancy e-mail auth, I doubt we can do it. You might want to take a look at what security they require for outgoing SMTP. if it's pop/imap b4... you're probably hosed.
