Trying to install Zenoss 5 without Docker, but am unable to find any documentation on it or a package I could play with. Does anybody happen to know how to do this
Thank you.

That it's not supported.
You can "extract" files from Zenoss docker images and then you can start all Zenoss daemons, but you will need a deep docker and zenoss knowledge to do it :-D
Devops Monitoring Expert advice:
Dockerize/automate/monitor all the things.
DevOps stack:
Docker / Kubernetes / Mesos / Zabbix / Zenoss / Grafana / Puppet / Ansible / Vagrant / Terraform /
Elasticsearch

Thanks. Sounds like that will be almost as much hassle as managing the docker install so will probably bear with it.

Ahmed:
We manage docker for you with the Control Center software that Zenoss runs on. Essentially:
Control Center runs on and leverages docker for containers, but provides orchestration, routing (internal and external), and other features docker lacks
Zenoss runs on Control Center (again utilizing docker containers)

Sorry to bump an older thread, but I just started in on building a new Zenoss 5 box for our environment and wow was I unpleasantly surprised! Zenoss was always a little tricky to get up and running, but just reading the Zenoss_Core_Planning_Guide_r5 and the Zenoss_Core_Installation_Guide_r5 makes my head wanted to explode (32 pages WTF In v4 by page 7 you were logging in to a completed install). What a huge step backwards IMHO. Docker, 4 cores minimum, 20GB RAM, SSD or high-performance SAN, and the disk space requirements are unreal...
Docker 50GB
Control Center 50GB
Application Data 300GB
Application Backups 150GB
We currently have Zenoss monitoring our entire environment, quite well I may add, with 2 cores, 16GB RAM, & 40GB of disk space vs. the 550GBs of disk for v5 Theres something to be said for a few prerequisites and an RPM. Ever heard of the KISS method
I apologize for the rant, but is there some huge, unbelievable gain in features and performance in v5 I am unaware of This seriously makes me have to consider a simpler solution like Solorwinds or PRTG. Wow, never thought Id see Solorwinds and simpler in the same sentence...
Just my 2...

I also tested the V5, finally I fought with V5 for long hours.
Impossible for me to put in production this kind of system.
Too heavy, too complicated if a problem occurs.
No upgrade possible, no more update, with time zenpacks will no longer be compatible V4 ...
I stay on V4 the time to find a good alternative to Zenoss, migrate servers and go away.
I am very disappointed, i use zenoss for years and I like zenoss .
