Set up temperature alerts

Took me a while to figure out how to set up ambient temperature threasholds but I have figured that out via setting local templates.

However my thresholds are not generating any events in the event viewer hence why my triggers and email alerts are not working.

Sooo need some help please.

This is how it's set up currently.

Linux servers, components ambient1, local template.

Source: TemperatureCelsius OID: xxxxxxx etc... I get data on graph.

Thresholds: MinMaxThreshold, Datpoints, TemperatureCelsius_temperature_celsius, Severity Critical, Max value 20 Event class /HW/Temperature

This was a test at 20c so that it would generate an event. It doesnt, even though I have data on my graph and the threshold is visible.

Any ideas, how I can get it to trigger an alert so it shows up in the events section in zenoss

Need some help guys.

I've been readuing the Zenoss 4 documentation but no closer to sorting my issue. I have my thresholds defined and a graph with data, but nothing is triggering my thresholds.

Nee a bit more input here. By default, a Linux server does not have a component called "ambient1"; if you do have this component then you must have a ZenPack installed that is providing this which also gives you your TemperatureCelsius OID datapoint.

Let's back up a bit. Do you really have a component called ambient1 ie. from the main page for a device, do you have an ambient1 in your left-hand menu under Components, along with interfaces, Filesystems, etc

Backing up further, do you WANT a temperature COMPONENT or is this an attribute of the DEVICE

If it is a device attribute then no need to worry about all the component stuff and you don't need any extra ZenPack.

You obviously are getting data - do you find your temperature graph from the left-hand menu Graphs option If so, you actually have a device template, not a component template.

In your TemperatureCelsius datasource, what is the exact SNMP OID that is being collected

Cheers,

Jane
