I've been asked to research how to do the following. We are using Zenoss Core 5.1.1. Each time an operator using theevent console uses the menu to close an event, we need to execute an external command that sends a message to another system.

Following the information in the administrators manual, I went to Events > Triggers > Notifications then used Add and set the action to Command. And I created the notification. Then I edited the notification to read:

We have closed numerous events since that time.

However, when I perform

$ ssh myeventsrv

$ sudo serviced service attach zenhub

[root@6375cb294f6c /]# cd /tmp

[root@6375cb294f6c tmp]# ls /tmp/eventclose.log

ls: cannot access /tmp/eventclose.log: No such file or directory

It appears that the notification is not firing. What are the steps that can be taken to troubleshoot why a notification is not performing as expected
