Subject: | Enterprise OID for sysName |

I have a manufacturer that does not populate the device name in the SNMP MIB-2 OID, instead uses their own OID. I would like to know if there's a way to have Zenoss poll that OID for System Name instead so that it automatically populates the correct name when the device is discovered.
The standard OID appears to be 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5 which returns "System Name"
The manufacturer OID is 1.3.6.1.4.1.841.1.1.2.1.5.8 which returns the actual system name for this manufacturer.
Thanks for your input.

First off, REPORT THIS to the vendor, please make them fix it! (in fact beating on them may be the easiest solution!!!)
You will need to write a ZenPack for the device to change the OID for System Name (Because you're overriding a ZenPack already). The good news is we provide resources to make this easy:
Docs and HOWTO video: http://wiki.zenoss.org/ZenPack_Development_Guide (scroll down for videos)
