Hello,

I'm trying to get ZenUp to work in our environment and I'm having a problem with the "check" script that is part of the *.zup file. In our Linux environment we use VAS so the zenoss user is not a member of the zenoss group and I cannot create a local zenoss user.

The check script runs through to check that the user zenoss in the group zenoss has permissions for $ZENHOME and fails because it does not. I've attempted to modify the check script by untar'ing the *.zup, changing the script and re-tar'ing but I'm getting a message about an invalid config file. Is there a special way I'd need to re-tar the *.zup file or way to bypass the check I know that my zenoss user has the permissions it needs on $ZENHOME.

The output prior to modification is:
"Performing a dry run...
Checking expected environment settings...
OK
Checking existence of Zenoss directories...
OK
Checking /opt/zenoss for subdirectory ownership and permissions...
find: `zenoss' is not the name of an existing group
OK
Checking /opt/zenoss for file ownership and permissions...
find: `zenoss' is not the name of an existing group
find command failed to execute cleanly - aborting
ERROR: /tmp/zenoss-core-4.2.4_Vi3Q2z/new_zup/check returned a non-zero exit code: 1.
No changes have been applied to your system"

The output I get after modification is:
"Performing a dry run...
ERROR: Archive has invalid config file: /tmp/zenoss_core-4.2.4-SP464.zup
No changes have been applied to your system"

Thanks

I've resolved the issue. When I was re-tar'ing the files I was adding an extra directory level.
