I have been successfully monitoring a Windows server for over a year now, but out of nowhere last night I started receiving the following message:
"Error collecting performance data: unpack requires a string argument of length 24"
Since this message started, I am not pulling any WMI data. I can do a query via wbemtest and it works just fine.
Any ideas

Hmmm interesting, never seen that one.
Try restarting the zenwinperf daemon (zenwinperf restart) and if that doesn't work, try a full zenoss restart

I ended up restarting the zenoss service. When zenoss came back online I continued to getthe message for about 15 minutes. Then it cleared up. It has been good now for almost an hour.
