Dear Zenoss community members,
I have a question regarding a warning in Zenoss. On the internet I searched a lot but couldnt find a solution for this warning. I hope someone can help me solve this problem, thanks in advance.
I am getting several snmp erorrs. linkDown and linkup issue. how can i check which link is changing state Can I stop the switch from automatically changing the link state Ive searched the oid, see link below:
Message: snmp trap snmpTraps.4
oid: 1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.4 (http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.dolocal=en&translate=T... )
description oid: "A linkUp trap signifies that the SNMP entity, acting in an agent role, has detected that the ifOperStatus object for one of its communication links left the down state and transitioned into some other state (but not into the notPresent state). This other state is indicated by the included value of ifOperStatus."
AND
Message: snmp trap snmpTraps.3
oid: 1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.3
description oid: "A linkDown trap signifies that the SNMP entity, acting in an agent role, has detected that the ifOperStatus object for one of its communication links is about to enter the down state from some other state (but not from the notPresent state). This other state is indicated by the included value
of ifOperStatus."
Once again thanks in advance.
With kind regards,

Hmm did you delete your previous post I posted an explanation there, but will do it again here.
The switch is sending SNMP traps to Zenoss when an interface's state (up or down) changes, Zenoss receives the trap and creates an event; This is normal operation.
If you don't want these traps/warning events then adjust the switch to not send them or write a transform to drop them.
I'm not sure what switch you have, but perhaps this link will help: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2950/software/...

Dear Hydruid,
Thanks for your msg. I think the admin of zenoss.org deleted my post. I think this this post will also be deleted bcuz, i have a temp account. I couldn't log in again and under my account there is no tab (your posts).
I am new to Zenoss, i will write a transform to drop them.
with kind regards,
yunuz
