Location based field?

Is there a way to have a field contain location specific data

For example, a client has 4 locations, each location has a different WiFi SSID for the site, can I store that in a field, that would be location specific.

This way I could trigger an alert on machine with the wrong WiFi SSID selected.

I would use this for many other applications, allowing thresholds to be set by site for a number or metrics.

Thanks

Manuel

I think I understand what you are trying to do.

Why not just put the devices you are monitoring in a custom device tree Example - /network/switces/Site-A and /network/switches/Site-B

Then you could use transforms to manipulate the events how you want, based on the evt.device.

This morning it hit me that there is a much better way to do what you want. You can assign devices to a "Location" and then manipulate events based on that.

Click on the Infrastructure tab and in the bottom left click Location, then click the + sign, put in the physical address, and then drag a device onto that location. The other cool thing is that it will also add them to the map :P

Example transform based on location: http://wiki.zenoss.org/Transforms_-_Suppress_Events_by_Location

I'm not sure, it sounds like it would be easiest to write a script outside of Zenoss that passes the alerts to Zenoss if necessary.

Join on the IRC channel and post the same question or do a search for "zenoss+custom snmp component"
