I have seen this on several occasions, John. It's intermittent. I don't think that it is either entirely an account problem or entirely a thread problem. You managed to post my words for me to a thread of mine. At the same time, I was able to create a new post but not update my own existing post.

I have wondered whether it is a GUI + authentication problem whereby the system thinks it is prompting me to enter an authentication code but the GUI is failing to display the box with the random characters it wants typed in

Agreed Jane! Logged a bug and should hear back today. When you press Save it does not do anything BUT I got an email with a post for each time I pressed save so the commit is happening each time you press Save. Logged that too. Seems to be site wide vs account.
