Anjan,
Option 1 should be fine, depending on which version of Zenoss Core you're running. Deleting a group will leave the devices in place and remove the link between the group and any devices previously contained within it. Users of Zenoss Core 4.2.5 before RPS 743 may occasionally run into a bug where devices still point to a group after its deletion.
Option 2 would take more steps, but should be safe regardless of version.

Hi
Michael,
Got a new query.
We ran and deleted almost 1500 groups out of 2600. if i check on the console it actually have 2600 - 1500 = 1100 but the count on the console next to the group is still showing the old number 2600.
No idea why it is behaving like this. any suggestion please.
