Ambarish,

Do the FPC components of the device have a component template?  If so, does that template have a threshold against the data point you're interested in?

As an example, you can look at the ethernetCsmacd_64 template.  It gathers the ifOperStatus data point, and provides a ValueChange threshold against that datapoint to provide an Info level event.  Should an interface change from up to down (or vice versa), an event is generated. 



For important interfaces, this event can then be transformed to a higher severity event, as needed.
