Hi,

I am trying, as a project, to re-create the existing environment in my office.

Nagios - 4.0.8, Zenoss - 4.2.5.

The hosts are added in Nagios and monitored via NRPE. The alerts are then pushed to Zenoss. We use Zenoss as a dashboard to work on and resolve the alerts.

Please give me any ideas on how to accomplish this. I have been searching all over the internet for this. There is no walkthrough on doing this.

Just to be clear we will not be adding any hosts in Zenoss, it will just act as a dashboard. Thanks a lot.

Regards,
kiran

That entirely depends on how your current implementation is sending the events over to Zenoss.  There are several different ways to do that.  The first is via zensendevent which is a Zenoss tool for sending events to it.  The other is by sending snmp traps or syslogs containing the event info to Zenoss.  The other way is via the API which is the recommended method of doing that (but would involve some scripting to accomplish).  If you're trying to replicate what you currently have the first step would be understanding how that integration is currently setup with your existing system.

Also, are you determined to stick with version 4.2.5?  If not then you'd be better off going with the latest version set (Zenoss 6).  I assume you're using the community version, so the installation documentation for 4.2.5 and 6.x versions can be found here: https://help.zenoss.com/zsd/archive/community-edition-core
