I think, it depend upon which OS you are comfortable with.
Both are supported by Zenoss.

I totally agree that it is important to consider the Operating System that you are mosr effective with. 

That said, more recently Zenoss has stopped supporting Ubuntu. With Zenoss 4.2.5, Ubuntu is nominally supported but I suspect far more people have worked with it on a RedHat platform than an Ubuntu one.

If you are comfortable with both, personally I would choose CentOS.
