​Sure, but this is not what it is designed for.  You'd have a whole lot of scripting/customizations to do.  You'd probably need to create all the rules for it to first act as an IDS ("detect an event"), then all the work to then go to the next level to configure it as an IPS ("prevent an event").

You should investigate other alternatives...
