Really slow performance on test system

I am just installing Zenoss as an evaluation. I installed the v5 ISO on a VM with 64GB RAM and 8 CPUs. I have less than 200 hosts and I have not done anything custom.

Actions like Changing a device class or loading the template list can take up to a minute or more. It seems that actions that interact with the DB are horribly slow.

What can I do to improve the performance, and why is it so slow

add 2 zope workers and 2 zenhub workers, that should help.

I added 3 zenhub workers and 3 zope instances. The UI performance is much better, but anything that accesses the DB is still really slow. I have 64GB of memory and the system says it is using half of that.

What can I do to improve DB responsiveness

you might want to add a second host to control center cluster, and push MariaDB to that host. Sounds like an IO issue.

This performance issue is happening when I have no hosts in the system at all. You are telling me that to test a small lab system (less than 200 hosts) I need to have a multiple server solution

No, you shouldn't. If you're getting a slowdown you may need to dig deeper and file a bug. You should be find out to 500-1000 devices (or more in some cases).
