I just installed Zenoss as an evaluation. I installed the v5 ISO on a VM with 64GB RAM and 8 CPUs. I have less than 200 hosts and I have not done anything custom to the system.

IN CC memory usage is 48MB RSS, CPU is under 2%, open connections are about 100 and network util is under 50k average.

Actions like changing a device class, loading the template list, adding a new group - just about any data request - can take up to a minute or more. It seems that actions that interact with the DB are horribly slow because the screen draws quickly, but returned data takes forever.

Go into Control Center, add 2-3 ZenHub workers and 2-3 Zope instances.

I added 3 of each and it really did not help.

I only have 18 devices in the system. I am really struggling because I have not found any good sizing docs for 5.

You should have more than enough resources at this point. I'd take a look at the system and see if there's something generating load.
