Hi I am newbie with Zenoss. I have successfully installed Zenoss 4.2.5 on Debian 7.5. I have configured email alert and I have received the alert. I have configured my trigger (and then notification). I have configured the Device Production State equals Production, Event class contains /Status/Ping and Summary contains DOWN!.
For notification, I ticked Enabled, Send Clear, Delay 60 and repeat 300.
However, even after acknowledging and closing the event I still receive alert continuously at interval from device in "maintenance" state.
Device: 10.23.11.237
Component:
Severity: 5
Time: 2014/06/27 15:59:28.000
Message:
10.23.11.237 is DOWN!

Why is that I only want alert from production devices as configured in the trigger.
How do I also stop a correctly configured email alert
Thanks

I'd suggest that your trigger/notification pair might be right but that another trigger/notification might be catching this based on high severity. I would use zensendevent and zenactiond.log to see which trigger/notifications are being hit.

are probably both of interest

This isn't the best way of doing it, but I just added this Rule to all my triggers:
'Device Production State -> does not equal ->Maintenance'

If you don't want to see acknowledged events you can add rule to the trigger filter
'Status -> does not equal ->Acknowledged'
If you set Prodaction State for your device to Maintenance you should not receive the notification.

Fab,
please start a thread asking this question rather than asking in someone else's thread
