Hi,

I am using Zenoss Core 3.2.1 sometimes zenoss send multiple emails of same alert using same profile (recepient 1) and when i check the zenactions log i have found socket timeout errors. On the same time same alert sent fine with other profile (recepient 2).

Below are the logs for both profile for your reference.

INFO zen.ZenActions: rule 'Test' failed to send email to a@abc.com, b@abc.com,/DC/Server1 ip 10.0.0.1 is down - timed out
INFO zen.ZenActions: rule 'Network State' sent email:[zenoss] /DC/Server1 ip 10.0.0.1 is down to:['c@abc.com']

Kindly guide me in this regard.

Perhaps the mail server was actuall down or something in the network was busy Especially if it is an intermediate issue.

zenaction was completely rewritten for Zenoss 4.x and is now much fater and more reliable. If you consider an upgrade, I would go to 4.2.5 with zenup patch SUP457.

Cheers,

Jane

Check the notification that drives the email. You should have "Send only on initial occurrence" ticked and "Repeat" set to 0.
