I have a use case where I need to get the information of the RM and the collector and populate that in certain event fields in Zenoss when event is created through JSON API.

I am creating an event through API and assigning that event to an specified event class. In event details section i can not see any information. So i need to create transforms to get the attributes of collector for the device which is managed and RM instance where the device is added so that I can use it to any fields.

for example - In evt.manager filed I will update the collector name for that device.

You already have default event attributes of manager (the Zenoss hub) and monitor (the collector). You should see monitor under the "Device State" category and manager under the "Event Details". These values should also be available at transform time if you want to incorporate them in other fields.

Hi Jane,

Thank you for your clarification. In fact i was doing this for a device which is not added in zenoss. Lalter i managed to get the RM information using import platform function and platform.node().

Now I have another query, hope you can help me.
I am working for a client to integrate a thrid party tool to Zenoss through REST by calling Zenoss JSON.

We are facing an issue while passing information in a filed where the information being passed has this special character "\" back slash.

Could you please let us know is that limitation of JSON or can we some handle this exception in Zenoss so that if the filed has this special character information is passed sucessfully

Appriciate your help on this please.
