Is it possible to enter a host more than once using different names
In my case my single hosts has virtual hosts (web) that are different apps.
I want to monitor and alert on the given application hostname so the alerts are application specific.
This is something dooable in other systems but I have not figured out how to do this in Zenoss as zenoss resovles the IP and does not allow a duplicate.
So if I have a cname that is virutal host, I cannot enter it into zenoss to be monitored as such AFAIK.
(I probably just have not figured out how.)
Thx.

Generally not for processes and filesystems.
For web apps, ZenPacks like ZenPacks.community.zenHttpComponent allow you to override the hostname with your virtual host name.

you can monitor Apache with virtual hosts by using the IP address and disabling ping. I haven't gone farther than testing this with Apache: http://wiki.zenoss.org/Newsletter:4/Monitor_All_The_Apache_Virtualhosts
