Monitoring Template: Data Source ?Cycle Time? not followed

Hi, I'd like to forward a question from my IT operations director:

We have defined a SQL Query to be executed once a day (i.e. every 86400 seconds).
However, whenever the Query results in the corresponding Threshold being passed, and an event is generated,
we have noticed the query gets executed every 3-8 hours.

Any clue why this happens
How to prevent Zenoss from doing this
