Hi Experts,
I have a requirement where i need to use Zenoss has Operations Manager i.e in the enviornment there are many monitoring tools so all the alerts should be processed and sent to Zenoss for event co-relation and riket creation in ticketting tool.
We have a requirement to integrate SCOM with Zenoss, i.e. all the alerts from SCOM to be forwarded to zenoss, I have couple of suggestions listed. Could any one help with pros and cons of below suggestions and suggest if there is anything else we can think of.
1. Set SCOM to send alert to Zenoss through SNMP Trap.
Seems a straight forward solution for SCOM to send SNMP trap to zenoss and zenoss can handle trap accoirdngly throughevent transformation. However i understand there are some challanges in SCOM sending tap to zenoss. They might have to use orchestrator to send SNMP trap to zenoss and specify the each files in OID's and trigger Trap to zenoss.
But how reliable the solution is, since we are relaing on TRAP if the TRAP is alert is lost. is it advisable to use this as a solution when zenoss is considered to be global operations manager.
2. Use Zensend event script in zenoss to generate alerts in command line.
SCOM can call zensend event script in zenoss to generate alerts in Zenoss and passing the required parameters through command line.
Is is reliable, will there be a load issue in zenoss, will zensend be able handle a very huge load.
Please advise.

Hi,
I do not know SCOM, but I would filter the undesired events out of SCOM as early as possible, and only transmit the important stuff to Zenoss, using zensendevent. Be sure to use correct values for eventkey so you have auto-clear of your events in Zenoss when SCOM sends a clear.

Hi Charles,
I guess zensendevent should be called from Zenoss master server. Is my understanding correct. Or can zenzend event script be called from a remote mahine, if yes can this be done on windows server. As SCOM works on windows OS.
Could you please clarify.
