Hello,
I noticed that the Zenoss documentation requires Java 1.6 - and explicitly states that 1.7 is not supported.
Is 1.8 supported
The problem with 1.6 is that it is no longer officially supported by Oracle, from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javasebusiness/downloads/java-arc...
"WARNING: These older versions of the JRE and JDK are provided to help developers debug issues in older systems. They are not updated with the latest security patches and are not recommended for use in production."

John,
This issue will be resolved in 5.x which will release shortly. Note that while there are outstanding security issues in Java 1.6 none affect Zenoss. We have tested internally and have customers that require that we certify this.
