I want to proactive monitor performance, health and status of Zenoss. I identified 218 Zenoss specific metrics at the moment (related to official Zenoss Core 4.2.5):

Of course I monitor standard OS Linux and MySQL DB metrics and web check for Zenoss Web GUI. List of my metrics is available on https://github.com/jangaraj/Zabbix-Template-App-Zenoss

Questions:
  1. What do you (recommend to) monitor in Zenoss instance
  2. Do you use some high level test scripts
  3. Can you share some your good points please
  4. Where is some documentation about Zenoss Performance Template metrics
  5. Do you have some stress/performance test scripts for Zenoss

Devops Monitoring Expert advice: Dockerize/automate/monitor all the things.

DevOps stack: Docker / Kubernetes / Mesos / Zabbix / Zenoss / Grafana / Puppet / Ansible / Vagrant / Terraform / Elasticsearch

Wouldn't hurt to monitor the rabbit queue's to ensure they don't get backed up......and wouldn't hurt to add a check to dig through the logs and identifiy "bad things" like missed runs or misc. errors that can occur.
