Hi all,
Does anyone know of a method of generating an alert whenever zenperfsnmp fails to fetch an specific SNMP counter from a device The device does answer to SNMP GET's, but only an specific counter may fail (due to the application which provides the OID freezing).
Thanks.

Yes. What you want to do is create a custom monitoring template (easiest to clone from an existing SNMP template), add the OID you want to poll data from, and then set a Threshold.
Once the result is out of the Thresold, it creates an event. You can give them a severity and Event Class!

That is a very good question......you might be able to monitor the "application that freezes" as an OS Process and alert when it fails that way, otherwise I think you would have to write a command data source which will give you additional options to create events on failure to connect and etc.
