Subject: | Devices now missing zSnmpCommunity |

I was trying to change the zSnmpCommunity property on some devices in a Location. I did this via zendmd, with device.zSnmpCommunity = "newString"
This appeared to have worked, but then when I went to the user interface I noticed the property did not change. I tried to change the property from the user interface and I got the error of: "BadRequest: The property zSnmpCommunity does not exist"
I have no idea how to fix this issue. It's only happening on the devices I tried to change via zendmd. I am currently running zenchkrels as that's my go-to first step fix for these things.

Oh dear! Have a look at this append in the old forum - http://community.zenoss.org/message/69612#69612 .
The bottom line is that if you set zProperties as you have done then you end up in a mess - just as you describe. You must use the setZenProperty method. The only way I have found to undo the mess is to delete the devices.
You might try the second script in the referenced append to reset the devices to inherit from their parent class but not sure if this worked.
Cheers,
Jane
