|Zenoss reporting devices in /Ping class as Down
Every once in a while I get a false positive for a device being down. The devices are always devices in the /Ping device class. This morning I was alerted on ~20 devices being down that never went down. I did not see anything out of the ordinary in the logs at the time of these events. Does anyone ever experience intermittent false positives like this Are there any known issues or steps that I could take to stop Zenoss from sending out false alerts
|It's possible that network
It's possible that network congestion caused the pings to be delayed and that is why it reported as being down. A lot of networks QOS settings put ping at the bottom of the priority.
I would start there and possibly look into increase the timeout from a ping response.
Processes being monitored always show status "up" even if down?
