Hello, I just installed Zenoss 4.2.4. It came with the MS Windows Zenpack 2.0.2. I looked at its github page and I see its now up to 2.0.3. How do I update zenpacks included with Zenoss Do I just run Zenup, or is there a different method Is the process for updating included zenpacks different from updating community installed zenpacks. Thanks!

Actually the Windows ZenPack is up to 2.3.1 (http://wiki.zenoss.org/ZenPack:Microsoft_Windows)

To install it, just download the EGG file (note: Sometimes Internet Explorer wants to rename the file as a "ZIP" extension - you can just rename it). Then in the ZenOss web interface, go to Advanced | ZenPacks and click on "Install ZenPack" to browse to, upload and install the EGG.

Make sure you also update the Python Collector ZenPack

Provided we really are talking the same ZenPack - and care is needed as there are 2 similar Windows ZenPacks - yup you should be able to simply install the new one. Personally, I would use the command line, as the zenoss user, to do the install as it is easier to see issues if there are any:

zenpack --install ZenPacks.zenoss.Microsoft.Windows-2.5.3.egg

... which currently seems to be the latest version of the newer Windows ZenPack (the one that uses RM rather than WMI).

You will then need to completely restart Zenoss.

***** NOTE ***** If you do remove a ZenPack and then reinstall it then, if the ZenPack introduces any device classes (which the Microsoft one does) and you have put device instances into that class, THEY WILL ALL BE DELETED. If you simply reinstall a ZenPack that is already installed then you shouldn't lose anything.

Cheers,

Jane

Hello Jane,

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I'm trying to install ZenPacks.zenoss.Microsoft.Windows-2.5.3.man. I attempt to install via cmd line. So, if I currently have ZenPacks.zenoss.Microsoft.Windows 2.1.2, installed, do I need to remove that prior to installing the latest

Noob here, how do I get the ZenPacks.zenoss.Microsoft.Windows.egg

Thanks!

Joe
