JSON API from Remote collector

I have a setup with several remote collectors (using the distributed collectors zenpack) and this is working good, I have collectors performing jobs and creating events on my Master zenoss.

However I have a usecase where I would like to send events from devices via the remote collector.

It seems as though the JSON API uses Zope, so it would require the zopectl to run on the remote collector, I have been able to get this running (which in turn requires the zeneventserver to be running and communicate with rabbitmq on zenoss-master), but this seems that zeneventserver (on collector) also will pop events off the queue, and then I get a problem with heartbeats and other messages "disappearing".

Is there any other way of sending events from the remote collector (I know that snmptraps would work, but I'd like to use the JSON API or some other way).

Hope somebody knows if (and how) I can do this

note, running Zenoss Core 4.2.4 (on both collectors and masteR).

Regards
Thomas
