Dear Zenoss Friends,
I have 2 issues.
First of all I'm looking for a best practice solution to export and import MIBs from Zenoss V 3.2.1 to Zenoss 4.2.5
Both instances are running on different Servers. But as far as I can see the 3.2.1 instance was installed with default settings.
The 4.2.5 was installed by myself using the guide I found here.
Also I have a strange issue. In my instance at the client I have no MIBs accoring to the application when I browse to the MIBs page in Advanced.
In my default installation at my instance on my own infrastructure I do have all the default MIBs could this be the cause of installing some Community Zenpack the broke my MIBs configuration
Please help!
I'm an inexperienced Zenoss user.

You can install any MIbs you like - I suspect the current default with Core 4.2.5 is no MIBs. Various ZenPacks add MIBs and this is a perfectly valid way to export / import MIBs from one Zenoss to another. Simply create your own zenPack from the ADVANCED menu, and then from the MIBs page, select to add to a ZenPack. When you have all the MIBs you want in your new ZenPack, export the ZenPack to create the .egg file in $ZENHOME/exports. Move the egg file to your new Zenoss and install your ZenPack (obviously usual rules apply about taking backups / snapshots before major changes, like installing ZenPacks).
If you have the MIB source files, the other way to install MIBs is to put them in the site directory under $ZENHOME/share/mibs and then use the zenmib command to install them. Using this method, however, you will need to check the MIB to see if it has an IMPORT section at the start of the source file and ensure that co/pre-reqs are installed first. There is a bit on importing MIBs in my Event Management for Zenoss 4 paper - http://www.skills-1st.co.uk/papers/jane/zenoss4-events/ .
Cheers,
Jane
