Hello.

I have a version of Zenoss Core 4.2.5 up and running with 1 GB of memory and 1 CPU. I am monitoring about 100 devices. Right now, we are trying to Upgrade our Zenoss deploy to the 5.1 version. Since our IT infrastructure has been changed in last couple of years and the Zenoss has not been properly configured to show those changes, we are deploying a new and clean machine with the newer Zenoss 5. I already Ive installed the CentOS7.

At this moment, after reading your planning, installation and configuration guides, I have a big problem and I would like to have some thoughts of yours. Basically, I have a machine with the following resources:

4 GB of RAM;

4 CPUs;

55 GB of disk space.

Your planning guide refers that it would be necessary at least 20 GB of RAM for the Control Center and the Zenoss Core 5. Without that amount of RAM, the Zenoss 5 not even starts. So, I would like to know, if it is possible to use Zenoss 5 with the resources that Ive allocated to my CentOS machine It is absolute necessary to install the Control Center to have the Zenoss 5 running What are your recommendations for the scenario that I described

Regards,

Csar Santos

Csar,

I just joined Zenoss as the new Community Engineer/Manager. It is highly advisable to follow the recommended system requirements. If I understand you correctly you have one machine that is available that does not meet these requirements but you have a second machine that might be available. Providing this is correct...what are the system resources for the other machine The one with 4GB of RAM is way below the minimum for running v5 of Zenoss CORE.

The latest version today is Zenoss Core 5.1.4. I will also be updating the download and instructions page on the Wiki a bit this month so the information flows a better for everyone looking to work with the latest Zenoss CORE. Any feedback on the documention or Wiki instructions is always welcome.

Thank you for posting. Cheers!
