I am seeking a complete and practical guide for working with events, triggers and notifications. I want to do the things like issuing a notification in the case of exceeding a threshold and so on. I have zenoss core 4.2.5. Of course I have the pdf guidance presented by Zenoss, But it wasn't so practical for me.

create the Trigger to grab the Event Class for the threshold, set it to the Device as well (if necessary). Then add a E-mail Notification, bind the Trigger, and add yourself as a subscriber.

If you want events only from a specific Device you need to specify the device. And yes you need to set the Event Class. I would also suggest you take a look at the Admin Guide for your version of Zenoss.
